Greetings I bring to you my dear friends in the name of Our Lord Jesus Christ Our Redeemer! Friends, as I bring you to another article of mine for the day, let us have a look at the above topic. It says “Believe” and do not “Doubt.” Friends, many of us do say that we believe and the same time we also doubt the Lord. Let us see what the word of God has to say.
Friends, as believers we all do say that we believe in God and yet we still have the spirit of doubt in us. Today, as I shared the word of God in my church it was from the text of St.John 20:19 till the end. It talks about Thomas, one of the twelve disciples of Jesus Christ who was with Jesus throughout the Lord’s ministry. Thomas saw all the miracles that the Lord Jesus did and yet he still doubted the Lord Jesus when Jesus appeared to the disciples after the resurrection. As it is written, “On the evening of that first day of the week, when the disciples were together, with the doors locked for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood among them and said,”Peace be with you!”. After he said this, he showed them his hands and side. The disciples were overjoyed when they saw the Lord. Thomas was not there at that time when Jesus appeared to the other disciples. So the other disciples told him, “We have seen the Lord!” But Thomas said to them, “Unless I see the nail marks in his hands and put my finger where the nails were, and put my hand into his side, I will not believe it.”
As we go on friends, “A week later Jesus disciples were in the house again and Thomas was with them. Though the door were locked, Jesus came and stood among them and said, “Peace be with you!” Then he said to Thomas, “Put your finger here, see my hands. Reach out your hand and put it into my side. Stop doubting and believe.” Thomas said to Jesus, “My Lord and my God!” Then Jesus told to Thomas, “Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.”
Today, my friends, if anyone is to question you about the crucifixion and the resurrection of our lord Jesus, what would your reply be? They may questioned you how do you know that it all happened when you did not witness it with your own very eyes! What is your response? Friends, do not be taken back with such questions. We all believe by faith and we do not doubt that the crucifixion and the resurrection of the Lord Jesus did took place, don’t we? That is why Jesus calls us the blessed ones because we have not seen and yet we believe, Thomas wanted evidence and the Lord Jesus gave him the evidence and after that only did Thomas believed in the Lord. Friends are we like the doubting Thomas today?
Dear friends, let me take you to the book of Exodus in the Old Testament. It talks about Moses when he delivered the Israelites out of their slavery from Egypt. Pharaoh did not want Moses to deliver the Israelites out of Egypt. Pharaoh sent his army and best chariots to go after Moses and the people. Moses was obedient enough to do God’s will and that is to deliver the people out of Egypt. Moses took them to the desert. The people were grumbling against Moses saying that he took them into the desert to kill them. The troops of Pharaoh was advancing against them. Moses just stood still. He took them to the Red Sea and that was the end. There was no way for them to retreat back. In Exodus 14:13 as it was written, Moses answered the people, “Do not be afraid. Stand firm and you will see the deliverance the Lord will bring you today. The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.” Yes, my friends! Moses did not doubt God at all. He did what God told him to do. Moses stretched out his hand over the sea, and all that night the Lord drove the sea back with a strong east wind and it turned into dry land. The waters were divided and the people went through the sea on dry ground.”
Dear friends, Moses believed in God and did not doubted his God that is why he could see the miracles that God did. Today my dear friends, there are many of us out there who are still doubting God. There are so many things on our mind that makes us to doubt God. At times when you pray, and your prayer is not answered, why? It is because when you pray and ask God you still doubt if God can help you or not. In the book of James 1:6 it is written, “But when he asks, he must believe and not doubt, because he who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. That man should not think he will receive anything from the Lord; he is a double-minded man, unstable in all he does!” Friends, for God to intervene into whatever problems you might be facing today, you have to believe and not doubt Him. Today, you have to choose either you want to be like Moses who believed in God and saw the deliverance of God or Thomas who doubted the Lord! The choice is in your hands my friends. Have a Blessed day.
