Greetings in the name of Jesus Christ Our Lord! Dear friends, let us take this season of Lent  to see how deep is your love for God. The word of God is written in the book of Deuteronomy  “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength.” These commandments that I give you today are to be upon your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates.  ( Deuteronomy 6:5-9 )

Dear friends, those of you who are grandparents and parents, this is a commandment given to you Today! We have been given a responsibility to  teach our children and grandchildren  to love God. Are we carrying out the task that God has given us? Do not depend on the Sunday School teachers to do that! Your kids are only going for Sunday school once in a week. What about the balance of the six days? What are we doing about it? We have to take this matter seriously so that our children and our coming generation  will not fall into the hands of the evil one. He is ever waiting to snatch our kids from our faith. We cannot afford to lose our kids. They must have a strong foundation that they may not fall away. What we sow in our kids, that is what they are going to reap. If we as grandparents and parents are not going to start early on educating our kids how important is it to know the laws, decrees and the commandments of God than don’t blame your children when they go into the wrong path of life.

We are to instill good godly values into our children. The law and commandments of God must be written on their hearts and mind. We are to impress them on our children. We are to talk about the commandments and laws of God to our children when we sit at home. The right time to do it is during breakfast, lunch and dinner time. Take whatever opportunity you can to talk about Gods love to your kids. When you are going for walks or on a journey for a vacation talk to them! Before the whole family retires to bed make it compulsory to have a bedtime prayer. These are little values that your kids will remember their whole life. I am 46 now and I  still do tell my kids how our parents brought us up in the fear of God and to love God with all our heart, soul and strength. My siblings and I were brought up in a police camp. We had no church to go to. We could only go to church on Christmas and Easter Day! Imagine twice in a year! But I owe it to my wonderful mum and dad. They brought us up in a godly way and we still hold on to it to this day! Our Foundation in the Lord Jesus is still strong. None of my siblings have strayed away from our faith.

A serious call to all grandparents and parents! Our Muslim brothers and sisters are very serious in teaching the “Quran” to their kids. They start their  kids to recite the “Quran” as early as 4 years old!  How early are we going to start to bring the “Word of God” to our children? Dear grandparents and parents, we have been given a great responsibility by God. Duty calls! If you have not started yet it is never too late. Do it TODAY because Tomorrow is not destined for any of us. God Bless.
