“The Tongue Has The Power Of Life And Death”

24 03 2011

Greetings in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ our Redeemer! Dear friends, let me bring you to another topic that is interesting. Look at the above topic and it speaks about the Tongue! Of all the organs in our body, why did God chose the tongue? There must be a reason why God did so! Let us check it out friends! Let me take you my friends to two bible scriptures that speaks about the tongue. One is in the book of Proverbs and the other in the book of James found in the New Testament.

Friends, let us take a look first at what the book of Proverbs has got to say about the tongue? Proverbs 18:21 ” The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit.” Wow! Meaning that the power of Life and Death is on our tongue! Yes, my friends and it also says that those who love it will eat its fruit! Meaning that we bring Life and Death upon ourselves and others too! Let us look at two different individuals. One will bring Life to oneself and others and the other will bring Death to oneself and others! Friends, what we confess with our tongue that is what we bring upon ourselves and others! It is all about the Positive and Negative things that we speak my friends! Oops! Than we have all got to be very careful with our words my friends!

Friends, let me take you to the book of James and see what is written about the tongue! In James 3:5-6 it is written “Likewise the tongue is a small part of the body, but it makes great boasts. Consider what a great forest is set on fire by a small spark. The tongue also is a fire, a world of evil among the parts of the body. It corrupts the whole person, sets the whole course of his life on fire, and is itself set on fire by hell.” Friends are you still there with me?  A small part of the body and it makes great boast about oneself and also it can cause fire! We all have to be very careful with our Words my friends. Remember what you speak that is what you bring upon yourself and others too.

Friends, you and I, have we been careful with our choices of words? Have we hurt others by our words? Have we curse them by our words? Have we belittle others by our words? Are we boasting about ourselves to others? Have you crushed the spirit of a believer or person of a different race and religion? Let us pause for a moment my friends! Are you feeling uneasy my friends? I am feeling it! I am not judging anyone but let us be sincere about it! As believers, we all have had spoken words that we as believers should not speak. Some of us love to speak words that can kill an individual. They feel a kind of “satisfaction” doing it! They feel so relieved and satisfied after hurting others with their words. They feel their mission is completed for that day! How sad is it my friends! Let us pray for them and forgive them as the Lord forgave us.

Friends at times we do ask ourselves why are we not healed, why isn’t there blessings in our life and in the life of our children! Again friends remember your tongue has the power of Life and Death! If you are sick and you keep confessing all the time that you are sick then you are sick my friend! If all the time you are going to confess that you are going to die then you will die! You are bringing death upon yourself! Why not confess the reverse? And confess it with faith that you are healed by the blood of Jesus Christ. That is why Christ died for us right? At times we do not know how to claim our blessings? Your Blessings and your Healing is right on your tongue my friends! We just do not exercise it, that is all! Remember Life and Death is in your hands!

Dear friends, let us take this season of Lent to take control of our tongue. Let us ask God to forgive us if we had brought Death and not Life to others by our words. It is because of words that we speak there is no unity among one another. It is because of words that we speak there is no reconciliation in relationships between parents and children, between husband and wife and between siblings and our friends. Many of our family and friends have died without being reconciled! Is it worth my friends? We are here Today and Tomorrow we are gone. Think about it my friends! The choice You and I make Today is on our Tongue! Choose Life or Death! Have a Blessed Lent Season.

God Bless.
