Who Are The “Blessed” Ones?

2 04 2011

Greetings in the name of Our Lord Jesus Christ Our Redeemer! Dear friends, as I take you to another article let us see for ourselves “Who are the blessed ones?” Friends, let us see who are the blessed ones the word of God speaks about? Let us check it out my friends!

Dear Friends, looking at the topic above don’t we want to know who are the blessed ones the word of God is speaking about? At times I wonder what does the term “blessed” really means? Sometimes when we speak to people we let them know how blessed we are!  We tell them that God has blessed us with many things such as money, car, house, health, children, with a good job and a good financial standing! We feel that God has blessed us so much! What happens if all these things are removed from our life, Today! Are we still the blessed ones, my friends? Let us read on and see who are the really “blessed ones” the word of God is talking about? You and I will be surprise my friends!

Dear friends let me take you to the the gospel of St Matthew 5:11 it is the “Beatitudes” as it is written “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven!” Here Jesus was speaking to a crowd on a mountainside. Jesus had compassion when he saw them. They were like sheep without a Shepherd! Jesus was not telling of those who are “rich in spirit” but the “poor in spirit” for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. “Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted!” In the Book of Revelation 7:17 it is written “And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes.” So blessed are those of you my friends who mourn! “Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth!” Here my friends the meaning of meek is someone who is fully dependent on God! In Psalm37:11 it is written “But the meek will inherit the land and enjoy great peace!” “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled!” Yes, my friends those who hunger and thirst for “Gods righteousness” and not for ones” own righteousness!” are the ones that will be filled. “Blessed are the merciful for they will be shown mercy!” And again friends those who show mercy to others are the ones who are blessed! That is not all! Just read on!

Friends, “Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God!” In Hebrews 12:14 it is written “Make every effort to live in peace with all men and to be holy, without holiness no one will see the Lord!” Yes, friends we need to have a holy and pure heart if we want to be called the “blessed ones.” “Blessed are the peacemakers for they will be called sons of God!” Meaning friends that if you and I are “troublemakers” we will not be called sons and daughters of God! So stop being a troublemaker if you want to fall into the category of those “blessed ones.” “Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven!’ In 1 Peter 3:14 it is written “But even if you should suffer for what is right, you are blessed!” So friends, if you are right and people still do gossip and say all kind of evil things against you, be happy because you are the “blessed ones.” Do not get upset or angry over that person. “Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me!” Rejoice and be glad because “great is your reward in heaven!” Wow! So again I keep saying to you my friends “rejoice and be glad” because you are the “blessed ones!”

So my dearly beloved friends, at least now we will know “who are the real blessed ones!” It is not the earthly blessings that makes us a blessed people but the godly blessings that makes us into “the blessed ones.” So a word of caution my friends! When we tell others we are blessed remember in which category of blessed people we fall into! Are we the “earthly blessed” people or the “godly blessed” people? Have a Blessed Lent season my friends.

God Bless.
