“Are There Rules To Lead A Holy Life?”

7 04 2011

Greetings I bring you in the name of Our Lord Jesus Christ Our Redeemer! Dear friends, as we meet again through my postings, may you and your family always stay blessed! In Today’s present world, we see that there are rules, rules and rules everywhere we go don’t we friends? Rules that are made by men and it is compulsory that we must obey the rules otherwise we have to pay for the consequences! What about the rules that God has given us? Are we following the rules? Let us check it out my friends!

Dearly beloved friends, there are rules every where around the globe. Be it in the school, homes, government offices, hospitals, shopping centers, libraries and even we do see some at places of worship! Don’t we all follow the rules that has been established by those who have approved it? We all have made ourselves compulsory to follow the rules because we know we have to pay for the consequences if we break the rules! Some even have to be in jail because they have not abide by the rules. Friends, we are so diligent in following all the rules made by men but are we obedient and diligent to follow the rules that God has given us! We always take God for granted and we are not serious in abiding by His rules! Let us read on friends!

Dear friends, God has given us a lot of  rules and regulations, commands, precepts and statutes to abide. But  today, I am more interested in rules that God wants us all to obey today!  It is rules for “holy living.” Friends, man made rules can be followed but God’s rules are quite difficult to follow because we are living in a sinful world where we are contaminated with so many unholy things around us! Why does God wants us to lead a holy life my friends? The answer is simple, because “God is a Holy God!” and He wants us to be holy because He wants to have fellowship with us! God says that we can lead a holy life, if we do not set our minds on earthly things but rather on things above!(Colossians 3:2)

Dear friends, as we are in the season of Lent, let us draw nearer to God by keeping ourselves holy and worthy form all unholiness and unworthiness that separates us from having fellowship with God! We have to put away all things that is not of God! As the word of God is written in Collosians 3:5-6 “Therefore put to death, whatever belongs to your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires and greed, which is idolatry. “Because of these, the wrath of God is coming!”  Yes, my friends! God sent a great flood in the time of Noah because the people there were living in sin and God could not take it. They became so unholy in the eyes of God! It is also written that we have to get rid of all anger, rage, malice, slander and filthy language from our lips! ( Colossians 3:8)  Friends, if you would have noticed, we see believers using fowl and filthy language on their lips and the devil is very happy about it, mind you my dear friends! How is it that we can use the same mouth to praise God and in the same time to utter fowl languages on it too? Some thing must be really wrong with us, right?  People we can’t go on living unholy lives and let the devil have a foothold on us! Mind you my beloved friends we are the children of the light and not the dark!

Dear friends, as the word of God is written in Collosians 3:12 ” Therefore as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.” Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord forgave you! And above all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity! Yes, my friends that is how we can lead a life that is holy. Friends, if we can ask God to give us the strength to lead a holy life He will do it for us. Let us not fix our minds on earthly things that is able to make us unholy but rather fix our minds  on things above that will make us to lead a holy life. A life that is pleasing in the eyes of God!

Beloved friends, do take this time of Lent to meditate on things that will make us to lead and live a holy life. We are all not perfect but God will help us. He knows all our weaknesses. Today my friends make it a point to meditate on the word of God daily to protect yourselves from the evil one! Have a Blessed Lent season.

God Bless.
