“Friends, Are We Doing What Is Good?”

11 04 2011

Greetings  I bring in the name of Our Lord Jesus Christ Our Redeemer! Dear friends, as I bring you to another posting of mine, titled “Are we doing what is good?” Doing what is good! Yes, my friends! Doing good to people. How many of us out there can say that we are doing good to people and what are the good things mentioned in the word of God? Let us check it out friends!

Dear friends, as we move on to today’s article, let us see if we are doing the good things that the word of God wants us to do! At times the good things that we do are not the good things that God wants us to do! Let us see exactly what are the good things that are listed in the word of God? Here the word of God is written in Titus 3:1 ” Remind the people to be subject to rulers and authorities,to be obedient, to be ready to do whatever is good.” What! Meaning that we have to submit to the rulers and authorities, my friends and we can’t go against them. It is also written in Romans 13:1-2 “Everyone must submit himself to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God. “Consequently, he who rebels against the authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and those who do so will bring judgment on themselves.

Dear friends, here the word of God says that we are to slander no one! Yes, my friends that is what God is telling us to do today! To stop slandering others with our words. It is also written in Ephesians 4:31 “To get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice. We are also told to ” As  the Lord’s servant we must not quarrel, instead, we must be kind to everyone, able to teach not being resentful! ( 2 Timothy 2:24 ) We are told to be peaceable and considerate and to show true humility toward all men! Yes, my dear friends , these are the good things that God wants us to do? Are we doing as the word of God is written. Let us check ourselves!

My dearly beloved friends, as we go on, we see that there are more things that God wants us to do! As it is written in Titus 3:3 it says that “At one time we too were foolish, disobedient, deceived and enslaved by all kinds of passions and pleasures. We lived in malice and envy, being hated and hating one another. But when the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared, he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of His mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit, whom he poured out on us generously through Jesus Christ our Savior, so that, having been justified by his grace, we might become heirs having the hope of eternal life. This is a trustworthy saying. And I want you to stress these things, so that those who have trusted in God may be careful to devote themselves to”doing what is good.”

Dear friends, as the word of God goes on, it also tell us in Titus 3:9 “To avoid foolish controversies and genealogies and arguments and quarrels about the law, because these are unprofitable and useless! Yes, my friends, the word of God is true because there is no value in quarreling and having arguments because it only ruins those who listen. The word of God also states “To warn a divisive person once, and then warn him a second time. After that, have nothing to do with him. You may be sure that such a man is warped  and sinful; he is self-condemned! Dear friends “we must learn to devote ourselves to doing what is good in order that we may live productive lives and not unproductive lives! Let us take this time of the Lent Season in “Doing What is Good!” Have a Blessed Lent Season.

God Bless.
