“Would You Carry The Cross Today?”

15 04 2011

Greetings I bring to you my friends in the blessed name of Our Lord Jesus Christ Our Redeemer! Dear friends in Christ, as we look at the above article, “How many of us today are willing to take up the cross no matter what the consequences we are to face!” Just to remind you my friends that 2000 years ago, Jesus Christ took up the cross for each and everyone of us! Are we willing to carry our crosses for our Lord! Check it out friends!Dear friends, as we look at the above article, if we want to carry the cross we first have to deny ourselves as how the Son of God Jesus Christ, denied himself and took our cross upon His shoulders! Friends do you know how much it cost Him to carry our cross on His shoulders? No wealth on this earth could pay for it. It is “priceless” my friends all because He loved us just too much! Friends, whenever we see the “Crucifix” it is a reminder to all mankind regardless of race and religion that Jesus Christ took all our sins upon His shoulder! Today, when we say that we are disciples and followers of Christ are we willing to deny ourselves and follow Him?

Dear friends, as it is written in the word of God in the gospel of St Luke 9:23-24 Then Jesus said to all of them”If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me. For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for me will save it.”What good is it for a man to gain the whole world, and yet lose or forfeit his very self? If anyone is ashamed of me and my words, the Son of Man will be ashamed of him when he comes in his glory and in the glory of the Father and of the holy angels.” Yes, my friends and that is true. Many of us are afraid and ashamed to preach the word of God.

Friends, I would like to share a small video clip I saw in church today. It was about five young youths each carrying their own cross on their back. There was a youth by the name of Ben. He was also carrying his cross and was walking on a journey with his friends. At one point he stopped and put his cross down because it was too heavy for him to carry! So he asked God to cut off some of the wood and God did! He continued again and then stopped again and told God that it was still heavy for him and could God just cut out a bit more so that it would be lighter. Ben continued his journey and again put down the cross and asked god to shed off a bit more and God did! Ben happily carried his cross and moved on ahead of his four other friends who were carrying their cross of burden upon their back! Guess what happened my friends? They each came to a place where they had to cross over to the other side! The four of them put their cross down and it became a bridge that they could cross over! What happen to Ben’s cross? He could not cross over because it had been shortened along the way and that made it impossible for the cross to be serve as a bridge to take him over to the other side! Ben knew where he made the mistake! Ben still prayed and ask God for forgiveness and God did forgive him and gave him another cross to cross over to the other side!

Dear friends, Today if you have decided to carry the cross, carry it despite how heavy the cross might be to you. Did not Jesus Christ carried the cross for our sins? He did not retreat back but in obedience to His Fathers will He carried our cross on His back! So, dear friends as we are in the Season of Lent let us take up our crosses and move on and Follow Him Today! You and I will never regret it my friends when we meet our Lord one day in Heaven! Keep on doing the good that Jesus did! Remember friends, “The Cross Is A Bridge That Connects Man To God.” If you want to stay connected with God carry your cross Today, and walk with Him!

God Bless.
