“The Most Tragic Death The World Has Ever Known!”

22 04 2011

Greetings I bring to you my friends in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ Our Redeemer! Dear friends as I bring you to another article of mine for this “Good Friday” we will look into “The Most Tragic Death The World Has Ever Known!” Christians all around the world has been observing the Season of Lent for already 45 days as to date. Let me take you even deeper to the meaning of “Good Friday” and why we Christians till today still observe this day. Let us see what the word of God has to reveal to us!

Dearly beloved friends, yesterday Christians all around the globe did observe “Maundy Thursday” or as it is called “Holy Thursday.” Here Jesus introduced four things on this day. First it was the “washing of the feet” of His disciples. Second was the “Last Supper” with His disciple, the third was when He instituted the “Holy Eucharist” and the forth Jesus gave the apostles a new commandment that is to “love another as He did!” Dear friends here Jesus demonstrated His love towards the disciples by the washing of their feet. Within the next 24 hours, Jesus will be crucified to the cross for the sins of the people all because He loved us just too much. On top of that, Jesus knew that Judas Iscariot was going to betray him and the apostle that he loved so much, Simon Peter is going to deny three times! Just imagine the situation that Jesus Our Lord was at that time. Jesus knew the type of death He has to go through all because He had to be the sacrificial lamb to be sacrifice for the sins of all mankind! The shedding of the precious blood of Jesus was to be the “atonement” for our sins, my friends. Let us see, step by step how Jesus went through the most agonizing death that mankind ever knew.

Dear friends, after the supper, Jesus went to pray at the Garden of Gethsemane. He prayed for himself because he knew that his time has come. His soul was overwhelmed with sorrow to the point of death. Jesus fell with his face to the ground and prayed, “My Father, if it is possible, may this cup be taken from me. Yet not as I will, but as you will.”( Matthew 26:39 ) When Jesus came back from praying, He saw that his disciples were sleeping! They could not even keep watch for Him, for even an hour! ( Matthew 26:40 ) After praying for Himself, Jesus also prayed for his disciples and also for those who will believe in Him through the message of the apostles! Friends, do you know what is it to be in that situation? Jesus is about to be betrayed, denied and will be left all alone to defend himself before the high priest and the Roman governor at that time who was Pilate.

Dearly beloved friends, Jesus was arrested at the olive grove where he and his disciples use to meet and Judas Iscariot knew the place very well. Judas came with a detachment of soldiers and some officials from the chief priest and Pharisees! Jesus was arrested that night and was taken to the high priest’s courtyard. Here is where Simon Peter denied the Lord Jesus the first time. The second and third time was when he was warming up himself because it was cold. Just imagine leaving Jesus all alone. Friends the chief priest and all the teachers of the law was trying to find a basis to hand him over to the Roman governor but they could not find any but was still trying to find whatever fault they could find in Him.

Dear friends, the high priest and the teachers of the law did handed Jesus to Pilate. Even Pilate could find nothing wrong in Jesus and told the chief priest to take Jesus and do whatever they want to do with Him. They insisted that Pilate has to do something with Jesus. The chief priest and some of the teachers of the law instigated the people to make false accusations against Jesus. Friends, Jesus was handed into the hands of Pilate and the Roman soldiers. They tortured Jesus till the maximum. They whipped him with a whip that had thorns all over it. His flesh came out as ribbons. They even put a crown of thorns on the head of  Jesus saying that “Jesus was the King of Jews!” They spat and punched him on his face. They pulled his beard. Whatever they could do to Him they did. People were standing there laughing! None knew that Jesus was going to be crucified for their sins. They made Jesus to carry His own cross. They stripped Him out of his clothes. Jesus was naked because He wanted to cloth all of us my friends with His righteousness my friends! If Jesus is not going to die for our sins who is going to die for it? We will all still be sinners till today. Friends, Jesus was crucified on the cross for all of us. The nails that pierced through his wrist and legs was for us. It was the most agonizing death my friends and no one ever did it for you and me and for all mankind regardless of race and religion.

Dear friends, let us not take the crucifixion of the Lord Jesus as an easy matter. If Jesus was not crucified for us 2000 years ago, we will not have this Salvation! Remember we were all bought with a price that is priceless that could not be bought with gold or silver! It was His Blood of Redemption that redeemed all of us. Have a Blessed Good Friday.

God Bless.
