“To All Teachers With Love” A Blessed Teacher’s Day

16 05 2011

Greetings I bring to you my dear friends in the name of Our Lord Jesus Christ Our Redeemer! Dear friends, as I take you to another article of mine for the day, let us take a look at the above topic. It says it is Blessed to be a teacher. So all of you my friends around the globe who are teachers you are indeed Blessed. Let us have a look at the Greatest Teacher of all in the Bible.Dear friends, May 16 is a day dedicated to all teachers around the globe. It is a tribute to acknowledge all the teachers who have put in so much of their time in preparing their lessons. Mind you my friends, those of you who are not teachers. It is not an easy task to handle the whole class of students. I, myself was a teacher attached to an Independent Chinese High School. Friends, teaching is not everyone’s cup of tea. Those who are in the teaching line needs a lot of patience to deal with the students. We have students with all kinds of different characters. We need to be dedicated to our job.

Dear friends, let us take a look at the Greatest Teacher of all and that is of course our Lord Jesus. Friends, we who are believers and are teachers should look at Jesus Christ as our role model. Look at the way Jesus taught his disciples. Most of our Lord’s disciples were all unlearned men. Jesus took the time to teach them. He educated each and every one of the disciples not with worldly teachings but with spiritual teachings. Jesus knew that they were unlearned men and he taught them using parables. Jesus wanted them to understand His teachings. Dear friends, under the teaching of our Lord Jesus, they became mighty servants of God and they preached the word of God boldly. Many people were amazed, that these unlearned fishermen who did not know how to write and read and had no biblical knowledge taught with great authority.

Dear friends, we who are teachers, should have the character and the patience to teach the students. In a classroom there are students who are weak but they are not stupid as some teachers I have heard personally uses this word on students who are just weak and slow.Remember, each child is a child created by God. God does not create stupid children as some claim to be. Whatever God created was good in His sight. So, teachers be careful with the words you use to rebuke a child. By your words a child’s spirit can be crushed.  They are just slow in catching up with the lessons. That’s all. And what we as teachers ever need is PATIENCE. Jesus had a lot of patience teaching the disciples. Jesus put himself to their level that is why in the Lord’s teachings, we see a lot of parables are being used.

Dear friends, why did Jesus did not teach those who were wise? Because those who were wise in their human standards will not be able to understand the teaching of our Lord Jesus. One good example was Nicodemus a member of the Jewish ruling council and Israel’s teacher. He wanted to know the truth of who Jesus really was. Jesus said that, Nicodemus needs to be born again to truly understand what the kingdom of God is. And Nicodemus, who was Israel’s teacher asked Jesus how could he be born again? He told Jesus that surely he cannot enter a second time into his mother’s womb to be born again? Friends, Nicodemus was spiritually blinded. He could not grasp and understand the true meaning of being “born again.”

Dear friends, the word of God tells us in 1 Corinthians 1:27 as it is written, “But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise. God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong. He chose the lowly things of this world and the despised things, and the things that are not to nullify the things that are, so that no one may boast before him. Dear teachers, in your classroom you will find students that have this traits. How are you going to handle them. We as teachers need a lot of patience when we deal with this kind of students. In most cases, teachers always pay more attention to those students who are already smart. They feel it is much more easier to teach the smarter ones than the weaker ones. The weaker students are abandon by the teachers.Friends, our Lord Jesus did not give the invitation of becoming His disciples to the wise but the invitation was forwarded to the unlearned fishermen. Jesus knew that those who are wise in human standards will not be able to understand His teachings at all. That is why he chose the weak ones and he taught them everything and they were able to understand the teachings of our Lord Jesus. Friends, today we who are teachers should have the same attitude and character of our Lord Jesus. Have a Blessed Teacher’s day.

God Bless.
