“Giving Your Best To God”

29 05 2011

Greetings I bring to you my friends in the name of Our Lord Jesus Christ Our Redeemer. Dear friends as we take a look at today’s topic entitled “Giving your best unto God” how many of us today who are believers are giving our very best to God? Let us take a look why do we as believers need to give our very best to God? Stay on with me friends and please read on.

Dear friends, how many of us out there have given our very best to God? Why are we to give our very best to God? Friends we as believers ought to give our very best to God. Why? The reason is because God gave His very best to us and that is Our Lord Jesus Christ. He was the only begotten son of the Father and yet God the Father did not with hold his son Our Lord Jesus Christ from us. His son Jesus Christ had to die for our sins and that is not at all an easy task to do my friends!  Will anyone of us give up our only child to die for the sins of others? I doubt any one of us will do it, friends! God loves each and every one of us regardless of who we are and from what background we each come from. God accepts each and everyone of us the way we are. Friends, when God can give us His very best, why can’t we give him our very best too? At times we will think so many times before giving our very best to God. Remember friends, God knows in which manner we are giving our best unto Him.

Dear friends, remember the offering of Cain and Abel! Why did God look with favor on Abel’s offering than on Cain’s offering? Abel gave unto the Lord the very best of his firstborn. Abel brought fat portions from some of the firstborn of his flock. Abel brought the best he could to offer unto the Lord but not so Cain. Cain’s offering was not looked on with favor from the Lord. Most probably Cain would have kept the best of the first fruits for himself and gave unto the Lord the secondary ones. As I said, God knew the heart of Cain when he was giving his offering unto the Lord.

Dear friends, as we take a look at another account in the New Testament in the book of the gospel of St John 12: 1-8. We see a woman by the name of Mary who took about a pint of pure nard, an expensive perfume, she poured it on Jesus feet and wiped his feet with her hair.Who was Mary? She was the woman caught in adultery and the men took her to Jesus saying that she was caught in the act of adultery and according to the law of Moses, such woman is to be stoned to death. But Jesus told them, he who has not sinned may cast the first stone. Jesus did not condemned her but told her not to sin anymore. This woman, Mary did was such a noble thing. She wanted to give her very best to the Lord Jesus Christ. Imagine friends, are we able to do such thing for the Lord? Imagine at that time if we are living in the time of Jesus, and we have a branded perfume by the brand of Estee Lauder or Elizabeth Arden are we willing to pour it on the Lord’s feet as Mary did? None of us would have done it because it is so expensive just to pour it like that. But Mary did not with hold that pure expensive perfume from the Lord. She even wiped the Lord’s feet with her hair. Friends, in fact Mary could have sold that perfume and made some money out of it but to her the Lord Jesus Christ was even more expensive than the perfume she had. She treasured the Lord with all of her heart, might and strength. How many of us today, can do what Mary did? That is giving the Best of the Best that we have to our Lord Jesus Christ.

Dear friends, as believers bought and purchased by the blood of Jesus Christ our Lord, have we given our very best to the Lord? If we have, is it the best of the best or the secondary ones? Friends, when giving unto the Lord do not think twice in giving because our God did not think twice before giving up his only son Jesus Christ for us and Our Lord Jesus Christ did not think twice before giving himself up as the unblemished lamb that is without any defect. He was spotless without any sin but carried the whole sins of the world upon his shoulder. Friends, today let us give our very best like Abel and Mary did. Let us give God our very best today. It can be anything my friends. Think about it. Have a Blessed Week.

God Bless.
