“What Is It With The Five Loaves Of Bread And Two Fish?”

27 07 2011

Greetings I bring to you my friends in the name of Our Lord Jesus Christ Our Redeemer. Dear friends, as we take a look at today’s topic entitled “What Is It With The Five Loaves Of Bread And Two Fish” that Jesus was talking about.Friends do take time to read the rest of the article and be blessed.Dearly beloved friends, looking at the above topic once again why is The Five Loaves Of Bread And Two Fish was made important in the gospel of St Matthew in chapter 14:17? If we read through chapter 14 in the gospel of St Matthew it speaks about Jesus Our Lord feeding the five thousand men, besides the women and children. In this chapter we see that the crowds was following Our Lord where ever he goes preaching the word of God. Jesus Christ tried to withdrew himself from the crowd to go to a solitary place but the people followed Jesus Christ on foot from the towns.

Dear friends, in today’s world we all have our basic needs that needs to be met daily.Food, clothing and shelter is one of the basic needs that every human needs. but at times, as we take a look around the globe, we hear and see issues of humans being deprived of their basic needs. We hear of starvation and lack of food in the third world countries. There are children and people dying every 5 seconds because of shortage of food. We also see of people not having clothes to wear on. Some die of heat and some die of the cold weather. There are also some who are deprived of a shelter to live in. We see many on the streets and in the deserts where they basically do not have a shelter over their head.

Dear friends, looking at the gospel of St Matthew in chapter 14, have we ever asked ourselves why were the crowds ever following Jesus Christ from one village to another and from one region to another. They went in searching and seeking for our Lord Jesus. Jesus our Lord had compassion on these people. Our Lord saw these people as sheep that had no direction. They were basically following Our Lord wherever he went. They did not care about what they want to eat or drink. All they ever wanted was to go after the Lord with their burdens. They were people who were down trodden in problems. Yet, they wanted to follow after Our Lord. They felt that is all they ever wanted. They wanted their spiritual needs to be met rather than the needs of the world. As the crowds were gathering, it was already getting dark and there were no village in a remote area where they could buy food.

Friends, the disciples of Jesus, told Jesus to send the people away. But Jesus our Lord turned to the disciples and told them to indeed feed the crowd. That must have been a great blow to the disciples. To feed the crowd that was 5,000 in number is really not a joke! In fact the disciples panicked. But Jesus told the disciples to feed the crowd. Luckily for the disciples, there were some who gave five loaves of bread and two fish. And do you think my friend that the amount was sufficient enough to feed the whole crowd that amount to 5,000 excluding the women and children? Jesus took the five loaves of bread and the two fish and blessed it and ask his disciples to distribute the food to the crowd. The crowd ate and there was still twelve basketfuls of broken pieces that were left over.

Dear friends, even today, God is calling us to come before him. Come before him with what you have in your hands and God will bless it and multiply it. Just come before the Lord just the way you are and you will see the hands of the Lord deliver you out of all your troubles and problems. Have a Blessed day and Stay Blessed always.

God Bless.
