“What Does God Really Require From Us During This Season Of Lent?”

5 03 2012

Shalom and greetings I bring to you my beloved friends around the globe in the name of Our Lord Jesus Christ our Perfect Savior, Redeemer and Deliverer. My prayer for you today my beloved friends are that may your hearts be open to what God wants to tell you. Come before God daily to hear what God has to say to you because only when you have fellowship with God, you will be able to understand what God is telling you. Do read the rest of the article and be blessed at all times.Dearly beloved friends around the globe, as we take a look at the above topic, have we ever asked God what does he really requires from each one of us during this season of Lent? Many of us believers will opt to go on a full fast as how our Lord Jesus was when he was in the desert 40 days and 40 nights without food. Some of us would go for a full vegetarian diet during the season of Lent. Some might even only have one meal a day. These are all good my friends. But what does the word of God really requires us to do? Are our hearts in the right attitude of fasting? Are our hearts right before God with all the fasting that we are doing during this season of Lent?Let us give a proper thought on that!

In the book of the Old Testament of the Prophet Isaiah 58 as it is written,3 Wherefore have we fasted, say they, and thou sees not?  wherefore have we afflicted our soul, and thou takes no knowledge?  Behold, in the day of your fast ye find pleasure, and exact all your labours.   4 Behold, ye fast for strife and debate, and to smite with the fist of wickedness:  ye shall not fast as ye do this day, to make your voice to be heard on high.   5 Is it such a fast that I have chosen?  a day for a man to afflict his soul?  is it to bow down his head as a bulrush, and to spread sackcloth and ashes under him?  wilt thou call this a fast, and an acceptable day to the LORD?  6 Is not this the fast that I have chosen?  to loose the bands of wickedness, to undo the heavy burdens, and to let the oppressed go free, and that ye break every yoke?  7 Is it not to deal thy bread to the hungry, and that thou bring the poor that are cast out to thy house?  when thou sees the naked, that thou cover him;  and that thou hide not thyself from thine own flesh? 8 Then shall thy light break forth as the morning, and thine health shall spring forth speedily:  and thy righteousness shall go before thee;  the glory of the LORD shall be thy reward.   9 Then shalt thou call, and the LORD shall answer;  thou shalt cry, and he shall say, Here I am.   If thou take away from the midst of thee the yoke, the putting forth of the finger, and speaking vanity;  10 And if thou draw out thy soul to the hungry, and satisfy the afflicted soul;  then shall thy light rise in obscurity, and thy darkness be as the noon day:  11 And the LORD shall guide thee continually, and satisfy thy soul in drought, and make fat thy bones:  and thou shalt be like a watered garden, and like a spring of water, whose waters fail not.   12 And they that shall be of thee shall build the old waste places:  thou shalt raise up the foundations of many generations;  and thou shalt be called, The repairer of the breach, The restorer of paths to dwell in.

Yes, my dearly beloved friends, this is the kind of fasting Our Lord requires from us. Most of our fasting are broken when we end up having misunderstanding with one another. We do not have peace in our hearts. There is still no reconciliation in relationships. There is still revenge, envy and bitterness deep within our hearts. Are all these that is within us gives us the right attitude towards fasting? Let us take this time of the season of Lent to consider all these my beloved friends. May we as children of God make sure that our hearts are right before God at all times and not only on Sundays or during the season of Lent. May the Holy Spirit of God guide us all through this season of Lent to really have a deeper understanding of our selves! May you have a Blessed and meaningful Season of Lent 2012.

God Bless
