DOES GOING TO CHURCH MAKE ME A “GOOD CHRISTIAN?”

3 06 2017

Shalom and blessed greetings I bring to all of you my beloved ones in Christ Jesus across the globe. May the blessing of the Lord and His favor rest upon you and your kin. We all make it a point to go to church every week and it has become like a traditional thing that we impose upon ourselves and our loved ones. What is the meaning of Church to me? Do read the article below my beloved ones to see the true meaning of what CHURCH is really all about. Do read between the lines.

Does going to “church” makes me a “good” Christian? I do not think so. I can go to church once a week and the rest of the 6 days I live an ungodly life, a life that is not worthy, acceptable and pleasing in the sight of God and not doing His will. Going to church does not make me to be a holy or a godly person. I need to be “connected” to God at all times and I can’t be going to what we call as “church” everyday. I need to be right with God at all times. In fact I am the Church itself! God says that our ‘Temple” is His dwelling place, that is why God chose to reside within us and that is why we need to keep our temple or heart clean and holy before God at all times. We need to have a right attitude of heart before God at all times.

What is the true meaning of Church? To many people’s understanding it is a building to them made of concrete. The church is not a building or a denomination. This is not a biblical understanding of the church. The word “church” comes from the Greek word “ekklesia” which is defined as “an assembly” or “called-out ones.” The root meaning of “church” is not that of a building, but of people. Romans 16:5 as it is written, “greet the church that is in their house.” Paul refers to the church in their house, not a church building, but a body of believers.

The building that we as Christians always go to on Saturdays or Sundays is only a place of worship and a place where we gather to have fellowship with our fellow believers. It is not called as a Church. We the assembly of “people” are the true CHURCH! WE make the CHURCH! As Romans 16:5 as it is written, “greet the church that is in their house.” The written word of God is clearly telling us that we the people are the “church.” We as the “church” are to meet frequently at our homes. We carry the church within us wherever we go because we are the Church. There will come a time when our places of worship will be destroyed and broken down! What are we going to do then? Are we not going to seek and worship God? Or must we have a building than only we can worship God? We need to have the right understanding of what church really means. Buildings of worship can be destroyed but no one can destroy the Church that is within you. It is only you yourself that can destroy the church that is within you when you are not interested anymore to be in the presence of God and lost connection with God because of the worldly things that have taken so much of your time that you are no longer interested to seek God or to seek His Word. Remember that God says that our temple is His dwelling place. As it is written in Acts 17:24, “The God who made the world and everything in it is the Lord of heaven and earth and does not live in temples made by human hands.” We need to be very clear of that.

Why God chose our temple to be His dwelling place? Because we are His creation created even before the foundation of this world. As it is written in Ephesians 1:4 “For He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world to be holy and blameless in His presence.” Even before the foundation of the world You and I were already chosen by God. So my beloved ones in Christ Jesus, it is You and I that makes up the real Church and it is not the concrete “building” built by the hands of man. It is just a building, a place of worship and fellowship with our fellow believers once a week. The written word of God says in Matthew 18:20 as it is written, “Where two or three are gathered in my Name, my presence is there. God is not talking about multitudes. God wants us to have a personal fellowship with Him everyday at our homes and with our family and friends. To worship and praise Him at all times and in all situations. To seek Him at all times.

In conclusion, do remember that You are the Church and the building is only a place of worship and to meet up with our fellow believers every week. Your spiritual life with God everyday is what matters most. Are we spending enough time with God through His Word that in time of adversity are we able to stand whatever is coming against us? Do go to the house of worship on Sunday’s but have a good relationship with God everyday. Be in the assembly of believers at home sharing the word of God and having fellowship. A thought to ponder upon my beloved ones.

God Bless us all.
